Please join our honoured guest speaker, Dr. Calvin Kam, Adjunct Professor of Civil & Environmental Engineering in the School of Engineering at Stanford University’s Center for Integrated Facility Engineering (CIFE) for a special Monday edition of the DRF Lunchtime Clinic in the Seminar Room of the Civil Engineering Building on 7th October. Dr Kam will be speaking on Innovations Transforming Global Built Environment: Inspirational Advances in Open Standards and Technologies

The talk will cover several critical factors impacting today’s built environment industry, bringing into focus several emerging aspects of technology and management to create a comprehensive and dynamic vision for the future of built environment, and the roles that each stakeholder can play. The presentation will explore key research into built environment industry advancement achieved through open standards, openBIM, Virtual Design and Construction (VDC), Artificial Intelligence (AI), metrics, education, and decarbonization. Dr. Kam will draw upon his leadership furthering owner-focused innovative practices across 20 countries over the past two decades. Attendees will gain valuable perspectives on factors driving global construction innovation and digitalization, and where next steps may lead. The session will touch on several aspects of built environment creation, management, and decommissioning, and provide key knowledge and techniques that participants can take away and use to improve project and asset performance.
