“Connecting the Roads” is an event gathering researchers and staff members of the "Digital Roads of the Future" group at the Department of Engineering. This group comprises around 50 international researchers and staff members. We aim to promote the diversity and richness of different cultures within our community.
Researchers and staff members will prepare small exhibitions representing their home countries. This will provide an opportunity for participants to connect with other members of the research group and the wider community at West Cambridge.
A small map at the entrance will show all the countries represented, allowing visitors to go from one exhibition to another and create a roadmap across the globe.
The event will take place during International Happiness at Work Week, from 23-27 September 2024. The estimated number of participants is around 100, including 50 researchers and group staff members, and an additional 50 from the wider audience (friends and interested parties).
The event will provide an opportunity for those running the exhibitions to engage with colleagues by promoting their culture and home countries through the creative process of designing and setting up the exhibitions. It will be an interactive and creative connection with visitors and colleagues, offering a chance to learn about each other's heritage. This will bring new perspectives into everyday professional communication and enable both sides to establish closer connections.
Tea and Coffee will be served at the open space outside East 2 Room.
