Digital Roads of the Future

 

It brings us great pleasure to Introduce Professor Gordon Airey, Director of the Nottingham Transportation Engineering Centre (NTEC) and Professor of Pavement Engineering Materials at the University of Nottingham as our speaker for the DRF Lunchtime Clinic on Friday, 18 October 2024.

Prof Airey has served as President of the European Asphalt Technology Association (EATA) and a Director of the Forum of European National Highway Research Laboratories (FEHRL). Gordon is currently Director-at-Large on the Board of Directors of the International Society for Asphalt Pavements (ISAP) and Chair of the International Committee of the Association of Asphalt Paving Technologists (AAPT). Gordon is internationally recognised as a leader in pavement engineering materials teaching, research and understanding, in a career spanning 35 years.  He has authored and co-authored over 400 journal articles and conference publications in research areas including rheological characterisation of bituminous materials; durability of asphalt materials; and the multiscale modelling and testing of bitumen-mineral aggregate systems. Gordon is Associate Editor of the international journal of Road Materials and Pavement Design (RMPD) and an active member on numerous technical committees of both ISAP and the International Union of Laboratories and Experts in Construction Materials, Systems and Structures (RILEM). 

Prof Airey is also a valued member of the Digital Roads Steering Committee.
